A man from Florida who was weak, 'just meth' breaks into a house, grabs a carpet cleaner

A Florida man he is accused of breaking into a house where he was found without a plant and holding a carpet cleaner, although he claims he doesn’t remember because he was high on meth.

Austin Alexander Smith, 23, was charged with burglary of an occupied dwelling and booked into Polk County Jail.

According to Winter Haven Police, residents of a home on 6th St SW in Winter Haven, Florida, were suddenly awakened at around 1:36 a.m. Thursday by a loud bang on the front door.

Residents then discovered Smith in the living room wearing only a shirt, but no pants or shoes, while holding a carpet cleaner that belonged to the residents.

One of them yelled at Smith, who then dropped the carpet cleaner and ran out the door.

A few minutes later, police found a person matching Smith’s description walking in the area of Ave. M and 5th St. ST. Officers took the suspect into custody, and the resident later identified him as the suspect who had broken into his home.

Smith broke into the home by kicking in the door, police said.
