The video shows people walking inside Republican Palace They chanted, “The house is your home,” and others left the place with some household utensils they got from the palace kitchen.
The video also featured the sounds of gunfire and many comments, including a woman who said: “Our fate is half of Assad’s house.”
Two people armed with machine guns appeared at the entrance to the Republican Palace.
The scenes came after reports spread that Assad had left the country “for an unknown destination”, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
The Observatory’s statement echoes what two senior Syrian army officers told Reuters on Sunday: Lion He left the country by plane.
Syrian Observatory for Human Rights Rami Abdel Rahman told The Associated Press that Assad boarded a plane from Damascus early Sunday morning.
Earlier on Sunday, Syrian opposition factions announced the “liberation of the city of Damascus and the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad,” in a brief statement on state television.
