Team CJ Works is an Austin, TX based restoration shop that builds and restores truly spectacular classics such as Jaguar E-Types, Mercedes 300SL Gullwings and Lamborghini Miuras. One of the most impressive products is the Jaguar XKSS recreation. This is a beautiful E-Type based replica that pays homage to the Jaguar D-Type race car that won the Le Mans of the 1950s. Unfortunately, it was stolen and the store could use all the help they can get to get it home safely.
“STOLEN! Please keep an eye out in Austin for this beautiful Team CJ Jaguar XKSS that was stolen from a locked garage in the Westlake area over the weekend,” Team CJ tweeted on Tuesday. in a Facebook post. unfortunately stolen car recovery bots already intercepted the comments.
It is unclear how the vehicle was stolen and there is currently no public information on who took it or where it went. The Austin Police Department is currently looking for a retro Jag. Unfortunately, I have a feeling whoever stole it won’t be spotted driving it around town, as it’s not the most inconspicuous car.
The original Jaguar XKSS was created as a road-going version of the D-Type racer with a tubular chassis and magnesium alloy body. Its engine was a 3.4-liter straight-six with a capacity of 262 horsepower. Jaguar Classic restored one from scratch back in 2016 to original specifications and it is on display at the Petersen Museum in Los Angeles. However, the CJ team is an alloy-bodied replica with a 390bhp 4.7-litre engine, while using the suspension and transmission from the classic E-Type. However, its opal dark green is just as gorgeous as the original, and the sage leather looks sensational. So it won’t blend well with the traffic.
While you probably won’t notice the XKSS parked at Starbucks if you get any information about its location, send the CJ team a message or contact Austin Police at (512) 974-5000.
