Apparently, attaching air brakes to a semi truck with zippers is illegal

Let me start by saying that my hands are not exactly clean when it comes to repairing zippered cars. Is this the perfect solution? No. Has this been the only solution for me more than once? Undoubtedly. But I can honestly say that I have never used them as a patch for anything security critical. The same can’t be said for this truck driver in Canada who used his favorite (but ultimately weak) fasteners to “fix” his semi’s air brakes as a last resort.

Waterloo Regional Police openly shamed the trucker on Xby posting pictures of pneumatic brake lines that they supposedly associated with hope and prayer. The life of a CDL it gets to the point where the driver was arrested, although I haven’t found anything else that says that.

There are no questions several rules are broken here. Waterloo Regional Police say there were at least seven traffic violations and charges were laid for each. Perhaps the most obvious is driving an unsafe vehicle, which is, yes, inspected. Do you want a 40,000+ pound trailer with no brakes pushing a semi truck at you at every turn, turn, and intersection? You don’t have to answer that. I already know.

I don’t think these ties will last long. Just see how these hoses and fittings should look in the video below. These are included in the trailer which is the metal plated parts with the Phillips branding in the photos. If the connection is not secure, the hoses will immediately pop out if they have to bend and bend around a sharp corner, cutting off the air supply from the tractor to the trailer. Tectran, a hose manufacturer, even uses a proprietary connector design that provides “ultimate kink protection” and “a tapered grip that flexes with the airline during tight turns.” Just as great as the snapsthey really can’t compare to that.

Whether that driver is jailed or just handed a list of fines, you can bet he’s having a bad week. As if the broken down truck and trailer weren’t frustrating enough.
