BC Hydro’s first EV charger with Tesla connectors opens

Traveling through the Okanagan in British Columbia, Canada just got easier for electric vehicle (EV) drivers.

BC Hydra has opened its largest charging station in the Lake Country, located along the Pelmewash Highway. There are 22 charging ports on site, offering drivers a faster and more convenient way to charge while on the go.

This new center is BC Hydro’s first to include 350 kW ultra-fast chargers capable of charging most electric vehicles from 20% to 80% in less than 10 minutes. While not all electric vehicles can use the full 350kW speed, every vehicle can safely plug in and charge at maximum capacity.

The Lake Country location is also BC Hydro’s first station Tesla North American Charging Standard (NACS) connectors. These connectors aim to make charging easier and more accessible for Tesla and other drivers. The site also features Level 2 chargers and 180kW fast chargers for those who prefer other options.

For EV travelers looking to explore Great Britain, BC Hydro is offering an updated charging map in its EV app, making it easier to find and save your favorite stations.

Recently opened sites for charging:

  • Ashcroft
  • Lake Cowichan
  • Pemberton
  • Port Coquitlam – TransLink
  • Vanderhoof

Soon:

  • Colwood – Quarry Park
  • Prince George – CNC
  • South Surrey – TransLink
  • Delta – Sports complex

With these upgrades, electric vehicle drivers in the Okanagan and beyond have more options than ever for efficient and stress-free travel when they need a quick charge from provincial BC Hydro.
