You still have time; some of the best Black Friday car toy deals will start over the weekend. It’s never too early to put kids in the car. It’s also never too late for adults to discover the joys of scaled-down versions of the real thing. I’ve found the best deals that are still running over the Black Friday weekend and leading up to Cyber Monday. I’ve included all kinds: Hot Wheels, LEGO, RC cars, plastic models, and even some STEM toys that will inspire kids to put down their tablets and create things in the real world.
Hot Wheels tracks are great; are children’s laboratories for learning Newtonian physics. When I was very young they were all gravity operated and the transition to coil spring car shooters was a major novelty. Now, as you can guess, they are motorized. this Hot Wheels Sky Crash Tower Motorized Track Set with Car for $49.97, shoot the car straight into the loop before spinning back. But, if you are driving multiple cars, you have a chance that they will crash into each other. This gives you an opportunity to discuss elastic and inelastic collisions – accidents are a science.
Is there anyone of any age who doesn’t love LEGO? I bet I wouldn’t be friends with anyone. There are car kits in a wide variety of price ranges from our favorite Danish car manufacturer. For less than $30, you get it LEGO Speed Champions McLaren Solus GT & McLaren F1 LM 2 Car Set. There are many other options. If you want to increase the price and quantity of pieces, it is LEGO Technic Peugeot 9X8 24H Le Mans Hybrid Hypercar for $159.99 it’s cool.
I also collected a small list of radio controlled cars. I’ve talked a lot about how great they are for turning boring kids into engineers. So, I won’t go into it again. Another surprise at the bottom of the list is something I have to address. Yes, it’s a real engine that runs on gas.
I started looking for the most visible V8 engine models that every kid in the 80’s seemed to have. The exact model I remember is hard to find, but you can get a Mustang V8 or a Porsche flat six, both for close to 200 bucks. My immediate question was, “How much would a go-kart engine cost?” well maybe you can have one for $68.00. It seems like the perfect opportunity to spend time with the child in the garage, taking things apart and putting them back together. The best part is that you can eventually make a go-kart to put it in. Please.
