It is a tradition like no other.
Since 1997, Taylor University Trojans created an official celebration of Christmas that became known as “Silent Night”.

A tradition meant for celebration holiday season and the end of the semester, includes a typically sold-out basketball game where fans dress in costume and remain silent until Taylor scores the game’s 10th point.

The fans then broke the silence by storming the Odle Arena pitch.
Friday marked the annual game, this time against Moody Bible Institute. And the fans didn’t have to stay silent for long.
Just 90 seconds into the game, junior Nate Parlberg broke free, dunking the ball in for the Trojans’ 10th point. The fans stormed the court celebrates in unison and, to avoid a technicality, a media time-out is always called.

The tradition continued in the last minute of the game as the crowd, arm in arm, began to sing “Silent Night”.
Taylor went 107-59 to improve to 26-1 all-time in Silent Night games.

According to the school’s website, Taylor is an “interdenominational liberal arts university of an evangelical faith” in Upland, Indiana.
