Remember this a custom 1973 Plymouth Barracuda driven by Lando Norris to the United States Formula 1 Last month’s Grand Prix? You know, the one equipped with modern goodies, wrapped in papaya orange and signed McLaren the driver? Well, now it’s up for grabs eBayand the proceeds will go to charity.
The musclecar is the culmination of eBay and McLaren F1’s partnership, with the online auction giant being one of the F1 team’s main sponsors. For the Austin round, they came together to transform the “almost stock” Barracuda into a machine worthy of an F1 championship contender. As great as old school muscle cars were, the car needed some updating.
With McLaren’s help, eBay Motors used its Guaranteed Fit tool to find the right parts for the build. To begin with, the standard car was silver, so it had to be dressed in the team’s colors. It then received a number of exterior updates such as period-correct wheels and tires, updated headlights, taillights and side gauges, a cool classic wooden steering wheel and serious detailing.
The improvements weren’t just major, as the Plymouth also got coilovers on all four wheels, forged front and rear disc brakes, and – to help the Lando feel a little more comfortable while traversing the Texas hills – a racing-style bucket seat. New performance headers and exhaust were also installed, making the already loud sound even louder.
The only stand-alone Barracuda mods you can’t buy on eBay are Land’s signature on the dash and the fact that he personally drove this car during the weekend in Austin. So they’re sure to be the talk of the town wherever you take your papaya beauty.
