Toyota 2JZ the engine that powered it MKIV above (and quite a few other vehicles) is one of the most famous engines of our time. Praised for its reliability and large power reserves with modifications, it has been a fan favorite for decades. Believe it or not, it’s still in the parts catalogs of Toyota dealers in the US — and you can get a small discount on one right now.

That’s less money than I would have thought a 2JZ block would be worth, but a little cursory research shows that it’s not a bad deal – a Google search for “2JZ for sale” turned up another $3,200 option as one of the first results. But hey, it’s pretty cool that you can still get them directly from Toyota. Then again, I just love the idea of ​​walking over to a Toyota parts rack to pick up some accessories and thinking, “Hey, $600 off 2JZ short blocks?” Can you throw one of those in my cart too?”

A monolithic Japanese automaker can be struggling to assemble the engines correctly nowadays, but the hardware he created in the 90s was legendary.
