Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) commander Mazloum Abdi said: “This change provides an opportunity to build a new Syria based on democracy and justice.”
Abdi added that it could “guarantee the rights of all Syrians”.
He continued: “U SyriaWe are living historic moments as we witness the fall of the authoritarian regime in Damascus.
It is important to note that the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces recently took control of areas in northeastern Syria, which make up about 30 percent of the country.
The SDF deployed to areas west of the Euphrates River in the oil-rich Deir ez-Zor province on Friday, following the withdrawal of government forces and groups loyal to Iran.
