NVIDIA’s priority order for Elon Musk’s xAI system is $1.08 billion

Elon Musk got priority access to NVIDIA for his xAI startup. Musk’s AI startup has ordered $1.08 billion worth of NVIDIA GB200 AI servers.

NVIDIA GB200 servers with artificial intelligence are manufactured by Foxconn. The chipmaker is expected to start shipping servers by January 2025, and Elon Musk has just made xAI a priority, according to reports DigiTimes.

Musk reportedly approached NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang directly about orders for the xAI GB200 servers. Getting priority access to NVIDIA’s GB200 AI servers aligns with Musk’s goals for xAI.

Huang and Musk are rumored to have a good relationship with each other. In the past, the CEO of NVIDIA is even very excited about Tesla.

“Tesla is way ahead in self-driving cars. But every car will have to have autonomous capability at some point. It’s safer. It’s more convenient. It’s more fun to drive,” Juan said.

Last month, Musk reportedly discussed a potential investment in xAI with NVIDIA. At the time, Juan declined to comment on the rumors. However, he acknowledged the hard work of the xAI team.

At the end of November 2024. The xAI score almost doubled six months after closing a $5 billion funding round, valuing the startup at about $50 billion.

Musk recently hinted at a xAI standalone application with the Grok Large Language Model (LLM) coming soon. LLM is now available on X. A dedicated app for Grok would extend its reach beyond X users.
