Rivian has opened its first all-electric vehicle (EV) charging station in Joshua Tree National Park.
Joshua Tree National Park is nearly 800,000 acres of beautiful terrain. Its landscapes may seem barren, but Joshua Tree is actually home to rugged ecosystems where wildlife thrives in temperatures above 100 degrees. In other words, Joshua Tree National Park is the perfect place for adventure.
Rivian recently launched its first next-generation charging outpost, the Rivian Adventure Network (RAN), in Joshua Tree. It also services Rivian R1T pickups, R1S SUVs and third-party electric vehicles.
“Using a new charger design to accommodate any compatible electric vehicle in North America, these sites are an important milestone in supporting the electrification of the entire transportation sector,” noted Rivian.

Rivian chargers also have CCS connectors, support NACS-equipped (North American Charging Standard or SAE J3400) electric vehicles. Joshua Tree’s RAN chargers are compatible with Rivian’s mobile app, enabling tap payment.
“From the beginning, we understood that creating great products like the R1T and R1S was only half of the equation,” said Rivian founder and CEO R. J. Scoringe.
“To achieve widespread electrification, you also need a really good charging network. Now we’re excited to introduce the Rivian Adventure Network—with its ease of use and exceptional reliability—to other EV drivers across North America, investing in a future where on-the-go charging is simple, sustainable and convenient.”
Like him an outpost in Groveland near Yosemite National Park, Joshua Tree Outpost in Rivian is a recreation area where adventure lovers can relax. Visitors can enjoy amenities including snacks, coffee and a children’s play area at the outpost. They can also learn about the exciting wildlife of Joshua Tree National Park.
