It wasn’t the beating many expected, but Philadelphia Eagles however, they took care of business at home against the Carolina Panthers in a 22-16 victory on Sunday.
And it was Saquon Barkleythis season’s MVP candidate, helping the cause with another milestone in his inaugural campaign for the Eagles.
Barkley set a career high with nine games of 100 or more yards rushing this season, totaling 124 yards on 20 carries.

But while Barkley tallied triple-digit yards, he couldn’t find the end zone. Instead, Jalen Hurts was pushed from the one-yard line for the game’s first touchdown.
Boley, however, would get other touchdowns by hand, finding DeVonta Smith for his first score in over a month, while Grant Calcatera, who will get much more playing time with Dallas Goedert on injured reserve, scored his first career touchdown .

However, this game came down to the final seconds, as Bryce Young and the Panthers offense had a chance to win the game after a perfect Eagles punt brought them to their own three-yard line.
But Young quickly got out of the hole, finding Xavier Leggett for 31 yards after pushing through his own end zone and nearly getting sacked for a safety.
Then, a few plays later, Young took notice Adam Thielenwho had a team-high 102 yards on nine catches, on fourth-and-7 for 13 yards to set up the drive.
On 2nd and 4 from Philadelphia’s 32-yard line, Leggett got an absolutely crucial drop, as Young forced CJ Gardner-Johnson to bite, leaving the rookie receiver wide open near the end zone.

Legette appeared to scoop up the ball and roll into the end zone for the game-tying touchdown. However, the umpires quickly ruled it incomplete and replays showed the ball had touched the turf while rolling.
So instead of attempting the extra point to take the lead, Young found himself running for his life on fourth-and-9 with no timeouts remaining. He tried to find Thielen again on the run to convert the game, but Darius Slay fumbled it to push the Eagles’ winning streak to nine straight games.
On the sports betting side, an anonymous bettor in Kentucky bet $3.1 million that the heavily favored Eagles would beat the Panthers. It was more than they wanted, especially on that Legette game, but the bet netted more than $400,000 in profit.
Looking at the box score, Hurts was 14-of-21 for 108 yards and his two touchdown passes while rushing for 61 yards on eight carries.

For the Panthers, Chuba Hubbard found the end zone on one of his 26 carries for 92 yards on the day.
