In an interview with Sky News Arabia, Brig Turki Al-HasanThese allegations may open a new chapter in… Conflict in between Moscow and Kiev.
Ukrainian support… Russian accusations and regional complications
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova explained that Ukrainian intelligence provides direct military support to armed organizations in Syria, including providing drones and training their members.
Brigadier General Turki Al-Hassan indicated that Russia sees this support as an attempt by Ukraine to divert attention from Russian efforts in Ukraine by creating unrest in Syria, where Moscow has strategic interests.
Turkey’s role in the recent escalation
The bulletin deals with accusations against Turkey that it coordinated the recent attack on Aleppo with armed factions, as Politico reported that Ankara knew about these operations in advance and helped delay them to achieve political goals.
Al-Hassan emphasized that Turkey, through its support for armed factions, seeks to undermine Kurdish influence in northern Syria, while trying to impose its conditions on Damascus to achieve geopolitical gains.
Iran and the possibility of direct intervention
Al-Hassan discussed the statements of Iran’s foreign minister, who expressed Tehran’s readiness to send forces to Syria if Damascus requests it. He explained that Iran seeks to strengthen its positions in Syria in order to face all potential threats from armed organizations supported by international and regional powers.
He stressed that Iranian support for the Syrian regime will continue to be guided by careful calculations to avoid widespread military escalation with Israel or the United States.
The US and support for the Syrian Democratic Forces
Al-Hassan explained that the United States is playing a dual role in the Syrian conflict, supporting the Syrian Democratic Forces in countering ISIS, while closely monitoring Iran’s movements in the region.
He pointed out that the international coalition led by Washington is strengthening its presence in northeastern Syria in order to counter all potential threats from pro-Iranian factions.
Possible scenarios for escalation in Syria
Al-Hasan concluded the discussion by analyzing future scenarios. He believed that continued escalation could redraw the lines of confrontation between international powers, complicating efforts to reach a political solution.
He pointed out that diplomatic solutions require international consensus, with a greater role of the United Nations in crisis management.
In light of the escalation of tensions on Syrian soil, the question remains: will Syria turn into an open arena for the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, or will regional and international understandings manage to reduce the intensity of the escalation?
