Syria.. American attack “in self-defense” in Deir ez-Zor

The source confirmed that the strike was not related to the current progress of opposition armed factions in the country. The US official, who asked to remain anonymous, did not reveal the target of the attack.

A small number of US forces are based in one of the gas fields in the Deir ez-ZorIt sometimes launches attacks in the region, including attacks on Iranian-backed forces.

The region is also home to ISIS militants, against whom US forces have been fighting since 2014.
