Tesla China recently highlighted the winter capabilities of its vehicles. While electric cars tend to get a lot of misconceptions about their performance in cold weather, Tesla cars have proven themselves quite capable in some of the world’s coldest regions.
This was recently highlighted by Tesla China on Weibo and X. On WeiboTesla China emphasized that its cars sell very well in countries known for their cold weather, such as Norway, Iceland and Denmark. In Norway, for example, the Model Y is set to take first place in passenger car sales three years in a row.
There were similar milestones highlighted by Tesla China on X. According to the electric car manufacturer, the Model Y actually became the best-selling electric car in the last 12 months in Harbin, China. It may seem like a small achievement, but Harbin is one of the coldest cities in the country, famous for its freezing winters.
The fact that Tesla cars perform so well in countries known for their cold weather shows that the company’s cars aren’t just comparable to the best internal combustion engine cars on the market—they’re actually better. And this despite the fact that electric cars have less range in winter.
There could be many reasons why customers in countries with freezing winters tend to like Tesla. Maybe it’s their great driving dynamics drive safelyor perhaps their significant standard features make them convenient and comfortable. Despite this, Tesla has created a lineup of cars that are attractive enough to consumers, even if they have a short range during the winter months.
