Tesla is launching a new Horn upgrade for Cybertruck owners

Tesla has begun offering a new horn upgrade for Cybertruck owners, adding a futuristic twist to the car’s sound. The update was announced via a notification in the Tesla app, where owners can preview the new sound and select the update.

A post shared by a Cybertruck owner Chuck Cookreads: “Change the sound of the Cybertruck Horn to an exciting new tone that matches the character of the vehicle. The tone upgrade is free if you want to break away from traditional styling or make new Cybertruck owners jealous. The upgrade is a permanent change and downgrades will not be supported.” That’s for sure. once you update, you won’t be able to go back.

Tesla allows owners to test the new sound in the app before making changes. The app includes two options: “Play” to hear the new sound and “Update Now” to install it. Cook confirmed that it doesn’t need a software update for the feature to appear.

The traditional horn heard in this clip is what you would expect from most cars: the original horn sound. The new horn, however, brings a distinctly futuristic vibe: an upgraded horn sound. Back in April, Tesla also added new horn and lock sounds to the Cybertruck as part of the company’s spring software update.

Cybertruck Vehicle Program Manager Siddhant Awasthi last week teased rollout on the X, crediting Tesla’s “amazing firmware team” for developing the feature.

This customizable horn adds another layer of personality to the Cybertruck, in keeping with Tesla’s innovative approach to vehicle upgrades. It’s pretty cool that this update can be enabled by simply getting owners to agree to a prompt in the Tesla mobile app.
