Tesla Model 3 Leads Electric Vehicle Fire Safety with Top Ratings in China


Tesla Model 3 achieved the highest ratings in of China Electric vehicle fire safety index and vehicle fire safety certificate, which emphasize high safety performance.

According to Tesla data, between 2012 and 2022, there was about one Tesla car fire for every 130 million miles driven.

In contrast, data from the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and the US Department of Transportation show that, on average, there is a vehicle fire for every 19 million miles traveled in the United States.

This suggests that Tesla vehicles are about seven times less likely to catch fire compared to the national average.

Tesla Asia shared photos of both certificates on Wednesday X.

Tesla sold 78,856 vehicles in China in November 2024, an increase of 15.5% compared to October and the highest monthly sales volume of the year. About 73,000 of them were sold domestically. However, compared to November 2023, sales decreased by 4.3%. It will be interesting to see how the December sales play out.
