Tesla reportedly ordered Cybertruck production workers to stay home for three days this week in an internal email to employees responsible for building the all-electric pickup truck at its Gigafactory in Texas.
Report from Business Insider said Tesla emailed Cybertruck production line workers and told them they “do not have to report to work” on “Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this week (Dec. 3-5).”

Employees will continue to be paid as usual but will not have to report to work.
Tesla did not comment on the report, and CEO Elon Musk also did not say anything on the social media platform X, where he usually dispels such rumors.
Given that the production hiatus is coming at the end of the year, this seems like a relatively interesting time as Tesla strives to increase shipments in the 4th quarter to meet annual shipment expectations.
Tesla will be close to matching total production and deliveries from 2023. It was clear at the beginning of this year that it would focus its efforts on the next generation platform, and will lead to “significantly lower” growth rates in 2024.
Tesla Cybertruck deliveries have been going on all year, so we’re not sure if the pause is due to a demand issue or if workers are taking an unscheduled break for other reasons, such as a well-deserved vacation.
The latter doesn’t seem to line up with what Tesla or Musk have held as the narrative for the company over the past few years.
However, there are also plenty of other things that could very well be at play.
At this time, line upgrades and other scheduled maintenance may be taking place on these lines, requiring a pause of this length.
It seems unlikely that Tesla would delay this pause until early 2025 unless it was absolutely necessary.
