The Tesla Supercharger network hit a record for single-day power consumption over the Thanksgiving weekend, meaning more electric vehicle (EV) drivers were able to use their chargers in a single day than ever before.
The Supercharging network reached a single-day peak consumption of 12 GWh on Saturday, November 30, as Max de Zeger, Tesla’s director of charging in North America, confirmed over the weekend in a statement on X. The news comes in response to some of de Zeger’s comments about recent price cuts on the Supercharger network, as well as the company opening up the network to the first non-Tesla brands earlier this year.

Over the past few years, Tesla has been ramping up production and deployment of its superchargers. In addition to general network construction, Tesla has officially announced plans to begin rolling out V4 Supercharger cases in 2025after racking up V4 charging for most of last year. The upgraded cabinets will give drivers charging at V4 kiosks access to higher charging speeds of up to 500kW for the Cybertruck (or 1.2MW for the Tesla Semi) offered by V4 Supercharger kiosks. Although Tesla hinted at it a few months ago higher charge rate tests on individual superchargersthis news has been long awaited for years and will soon become a reality.
Tesla is also working to improve its Supercharger networkincluding building more end-to-end charging points for towed vehiclesand also make it it is easier to filter these sites in the car’s navigation system. Last month, the company also said it was working to make stall availability more accurate than ever, along with increasing the length of Supercharging cables, modifying stations to avoid stalls being blocked by other Tesla electric cars with different charging ports, and pushing manufacturers to stick with port placement.
