This kit turns your C4 Corvette into a 1989 Batmobile

There was more Batman movies than I can count and several different actors behind the hood, but there’s only one Batmobile if you ask me. Bat car from the movie 1989 Batman it’s the only true Batmobile, and I’ll argue with anyone who says otherwise. How much I love The Dark KnightChristopher Nolan’s Batmobile was just a tank painted black. The 1989 car looked just like the Batmobile should, and with its hideously long hood and jet turbine front, it had the most presence in the movie. And if you own a C4 Corvette, you can cruise around town like Michael Keaton’s Caped Crusader with this amazingly accurate fiberglass replica that’s up for grabs now eBay without reserve.

The listing doesn’t say anything about who made this kit, but it looks as accurate as it should. Only the most ardent Batman fans can spot any inaccuracies in it. However, it still needs some modifications as there are places for the two massive side air intakes that need to be cut out, places for the taillights that need to be cut out, and a massive opening for the front fan. While the fan isn’t there, the seller says they have a kit for it, although they don’t specify if it’s included in the price.

Batmobile replicas have been around since Adam West’s Lincoln Futura movie hit the small screen in the 1960s, and they’ve all been designed to fit onto the chassis of various vehicles. This one is made to fit a C4 Corvette donor car, which the seller also claims. The C4 ‘Vette is a good donor car because it’s not hard to find for the price and can accommodate several different small block V8s for more modification. The C4-based Batmobile is also surprisingly accurate to the original, and even sportier since Burton’s Bat Car was built on two Chevy Impala chassis bolted together. Additionally, the original was equipped with a 327 cubic inch small block Chevy V8 with some jet turbine components used for the front fan.

According to the seller, beautifully finished Batmobile replicas can sell for $500,000, which seems questionable. Mustang based batmobile in excellent condition sold in a Bonhams auction for $132,533 in the UK in 2023. For reference, 10 specially designed Batmobile Tumblr from The Dark Knightlicensed by Warner Bros. themselves, sold for $2.99 million. What is the difference between them and this eBay copy? They are not made of fiberglass, and the high bid for this is only $10,000 at the time of publication.

Regardless of how much it might cost, this could be an incredibly fun and relatively inexpensive project car for Batman fans. It’s a pity that my wife has already answered.
