The honor was announced during a ceremony held at the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) headquarters in Paris, as the win coincides with the airport’s first anniversary and the celebration of the UAE’s 53rd Federation Day.

At the heart of the airport shines “Sana Al Noor”, one of the greatest environmental art landmarks in the Middle East, inspired by the traditional wind towers known as “Barjeel”.
This incredible installation, with a diameter of 30 meters, contributes to the intelligent and efficient distribution of lighting and ventilation between the floors of airport lounges, which increases the energy efficiency of the building by 10 percent.
The design covers an area of 742,000 square meters and has a unique X shape, with the ability to accommodate up to 11,000 passengers per hour and 79 aircraft at the same time. This doubles previous capacity, as the airport can now handle up to 45 million passengers a year, with plans to launch nine biometric identity checkpoints by 2025, an achievement believed to be the first of its kind in the world.
